Double Exposure: Joss Violet

Updated: Sep 23, 2023

Joss Violet is an illustrator and singer lending her impressive talent in both fields to some of Norwich most beloved music venues and commercial brands. She aspires to go into the film and television world and this aim will certainly bear fruit, only to the detriment of every field she doesn't go into.

Enjoy our photos and her interview below.

"Double Exposure" is a creative project that combines the art of photography and storytelling to showcase young creatives in Norwich. The project involves conducting interviews with these emerging talents and accompanying each interview with a photoshoot. The unique twist to "Double Exposure" is that these interviews and photoshoots are then shared on a prominent platform, BBC Radio Norfolk and Suffolk, providing a significant opportunity for these young creatives to promote themselves and their work to a wide audience.

Here's a breakdown of the key components and objectives of "Double Exposure":

  1. Interviews with Young Creatives: The project focuses on highlighting the stories, experiences, and creative processes of young artists, musicians, designers, or any individuals involved in creative pursuits in Norwich. These interviews offer insights into their backgrounds, inspirations, and aspirations.

  2. Accompanying Photoshoots: Alongside the interviews, I conduct photoshoots with the featured creatives. This adds a visual dimension to their stories and provides a glimpse into their personalities and creative style through the lens of your photography.

  3. Platform on BBC Radio Norfolk and Suffolk: Airing these interviews on BBC Radio Norfolk+Suffolk provides a substantial platform for the young creatives. It gives them exposure to a broader audience, helping them gain recognition and potentially new opportunities for their work.

  4. Promotion Through Social Media: Leveraging the BBC show's social media channels for promoting both the interviews and my own photography work was the ultimate aim of Double Exposure. It allows me to extend the reach of "Double Exposure" even further, connecting with audiences who may not have tuned in to the radio broadcast.

  5. Skill Development in Portraiture: As a photographer, "Double Exposure" offers me the chance to explore and experiment with new techniques in portraiture. Each creative you photograph can present unique challenges and opportunities for your artistic growth.

  6. Networking and Collaboration: Through this project, I am trying to build connections and collaborate within the thriving creative community in Norwich. The idea has always been to form a mutually beneficial endeavor. I help promote their work, and they, in turn, support my photography and allow me to learn from their processes, thoughts, experiences and opinions.
